Following threats to quit the programme, Hollywood actor George Hamilton has walked out of the Australian jungle camp of TV reality show I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! The 70-year-old had just five days to go before the final when he left.
In Sunday night's show, George stated that he would like to leave following a telephone call with his partner, Barbara. He later discussed his desire to leave with campmate Kim Woodburn who advised him to think it over. However, the actor realised that he missed his family and wanted to see them.
Hamilton is the third celebrity to walk off the show after the departure of dancer Camilla Dallerup, who quit with exhaustion, and model Katie Price, who decided she'd had enough after just one week. Six celebrities remain in camp - Justin Ryan, Sabrina Washington, Stuart Manning, Kim Woodburn, Gino D'Acampo and Jimmy White.
The former Dynasty star has been waited on by his fellow campmates whilst in the jungle and has been exempt from most of the Bushtucker trials for health reasons. He was, however, one of the favourites to win the show.
Whilst in the camp, Hamilton kept his fellow celebrities entertained with tales of his Hollywood lifestyle. He divulged secrets about Elizabeth Taylor, David Niven and Errol Flynn, amongst others.
The latest celebrity to leave the camp though the usual method of the public vote was boxer Joe Bugner, who was voted into the bottom two alongside former Hollyoaks actor Stuart Manning. The pair had to undertake a task to determine who would leave.
Hamilton will explain the reasons behind his departure on tonight's show. I'm A Celebrity is on STV tonight at 8.30pm.
The final will be broadcast on STV on Friday 4th December at 8.30pm. Ant and Dec will host a special two-hour show when the new King or Queen of the Jungle will be crowned.
