Lloyd Daniels missed out on a place in 'The X Factor' semi finals last night (29.11.09).

The 16-year-old singer lost out to the other four singers in the reality TV contest by gaining the least votes from the public.

Lloyd has particularly come under fire in recent weeks from show judge Louis Walsh, who compared his singing to "karaoke".

After he sung Take That's 'A Million Love Songs' on Saturday's (28.11.09) show, the judge bluntly told him: "The thing is, you are in the final five, so people obviously like you. Which is more than I do."

Lloyd's mentor, Cheryl Cole, defended him, saying: "He is only 16 - he has got loads of time to blossom into a real star."

The results of yesterday's (29.11.09) show were based entirely on the public vote, therefore there was no sing-off between the two acts with the least votes and the judges didn't cast a choice as to who would stay in the competition.

Meanwhile, it has been suggested head panelist Simon Cowell has urged the other judges - Dannii Minogue, Louis and Cheryl - to back contestant Joe McElderry to win.

His actions are said to have upset the other acts in the competition, especially those he mentors, Olly Murs and Danyl Johnson.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Joe is the winner in Simon's eyes. He's been bigging up Joe when the judges are around.

"The others are not happy. But the bottom line with Simon is, 'who will sell records?'"

Simon said on last night's 'The Xtra Factor' show: "The person we've all got to beat right now is Joe."

The news follows reports last week the winner's song this year will be Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin' - which Joe sang during the show's Rock Week.
