Kara Tointon thinks she let herself go when she was in 'EastEnders'.

The 26-year-old actress - who played Dawn Swann in the BBC soap for four years alongside her boyfriend Joe Swash, 27, who portrayed her brother, Mickey Miller - embarked on a new fitness regime when she left the show earlier this year because she wanted to tone up after years of being too busy to care about her appearance.

She said: "I've really got into being fit again this year. While I was in 'EastEnders', I didn't have time so I let it go. But I've always been active, doing lots of sports and activities from a young age.

"I've got into running recently. I've got a trainer and he just mixes it up. He'll do a circuit one week, running and then toning - a bit of everything."

The brunette beauty also watches what she eats to help maintain her slender figure.

She explained: "I do eat healthily, but I have a blowout once a week! I'm lucky because I eat what I want really, just not too much of it."
