John and Edward were voted of 'The X Factor' last night (22.11.09).

Three of the show's four judges opted to send the Irish identical twins' home after they competed against Olly Murs in the show's sing-off between the two least popular acts.

Simon Cowell voted to save Olly, his act, and Cheryl Cole sided with him. Louis stuck by John and Edward, his remaining act on the show, leaving Dannii Minogue to make the decision as to whether the tuneless twins would survive another week on the reality show.

She said: "I'm going to have to judge it as I've judged it the whole time. On the premise that it's a singing competition, I will have to send home John and Edward."

The duo had earlier performed Boyzone song 'No Matter What' in an unusually stripped back fashion. Upon being told they were leaving the show they remained jubilant and upbeat, however, and congratulated Olly on surviving to the next round.

Speaking to show host Dermot O'Leary, John said: "It's been the greatest experience of my life."

Edward added: "It's, like, deadly. It's, like, so cool."

Later the twins revealed they are ready for the challenge of translating their success on the show into a long-term career.

They said: "We are up for any challenge. We have got to think about it together and see if it's for us.

"The 'X Factor' tour is coming up next year, so we're really excited about that."

Five acts remain on 'The X Factor': Olly Murs, Danyl Johnson, Stacey Solomon, Joe McElderry and Lloyd Daniels.
