Simon Cowell has confirmed that show host Dermot O'Leary will be returning to The X Factor in 2010. The entertainment mogul is said to be "pleased" with the way the presenter has handled events during the current series of the show and has offered to extend his contract.
Sources told The Sun that O'Leary is in line to see his X Factor salary increase from £1.1million in the new deal with ITV.
The insider said: "Simon has been really impressed with the way Dermot has performed.
"He is the only man for the job in Simon's eyes."
It had been claimed that O'Leary was facing the sack after his series of onscreen spats with Louis Walsh.
Sources had claimed that the Irish mentor was unhappy with Dermot's criticism of his judging skills during the live shows.
However, the pair have settled their differences and Dermot told the newspaper that he believes that working with Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Louis is the best job in the world.
He said: "It's the best gig on TV."
