Impressionist Jon Culshaw has said that the X Factor has nothing to do with music. He added that he missed the build-up to the Christmas number one since the winner of The X Factor usually reaches the top of the charts.
Culshaw told The Metro: "The fact we don't have a proper Christmas number one anymore is irritating, it's just whatever wins The X Factor.
"Noel Gallagher was right when he said X Factor was everything to do with television and nothing to do with music."
Asked if he would ever take part in a celebrity reality show, Culshaw said: "No, there are far too many and they're too spun out.
"The Apprentice is interesting as there's something going on, but the rest are full of desperately irritating people who just want to build their profiles, little celebrity cockroaches who crawl out from under their rocks."
The X Factor has come under attack from several musicians this year including Sting and Patrick Wolf.
Both said that the programme was based more on entertainment that singing and music.
Sting described the show as "appalling" and "televised karaoke" saying that it set out to humiliate its contestants.
Simon Cowell hit back by inviting Sting to become a guest mentor for the remaining hopefuls.
He said: "I'm probably going to get into trouble for this.
"If I may just mention something Sting said in the papers about these contestants and past contestants being a bunch of karaoke no-hopers... I'm going to take exception to that.
"I think this show and other shows have given people like Leona, Alexandra, JLS and Susan Boyle a chance.
"And I'm going to extend an invitation to Sting to come on the show and impart his knowledge."
