Dannii Minogue has said that she believes that courting controversy is more important than having talent in this year's X Factor, according to a report. The Aussie mentor told a tabloid newspaper that she believes that Simon Cowell had saved John and Edward Grimes because of their ability to win "headlines and create controversy".
Dannii told the Daily Mirror that being "talented and beautiful" was no longer a guarantee of success on the show.
She said: "It shows how much the X Factor has moved on and what we expect of the kids.
"I was so glad I got the girls category. They are beautiful, beautiful girls but maybe that's not enough.
"Maybe it's not enough to be nice and beautiful and sing well and be hard working and turn up and not cause any problems.
"Maybe you're meant to cause a lot of problems and the controversy and get the headlines."
Minogue insisted that she was still on good terms with X Factor boss Simon Cowell despite his decision to keep the twins in the contest.
She said: "I knew when it went to deadlock there would be trouble because John and Edward had the cover of everything that week.
"I knew that there was no controversy with Lucie, she's beautiful, hard working, fun, talented and maybe that's not enough."
