X Factor choreographer Brian Friedman has said that John and Edward could find it hard if they had to sing a ballad on the show. Simon Cowell has previously suggested that the boys would struggle with a slow number.
Friedman agreed with claims that the Irish twins had taken a place on the show that could have gone to "more deserving contestants".
He told the Evening Standard: "Yes, but the thing is the public are voting for them.
"It's going to show in the weeks to come if they do a ballad. Then the public will decide if they should stay."
It has been reported that the boys will "exorcise" Simon during their performance on Saturday night's X Factor.
The 18-year-olds are working on a routine to accompany their performance of the Ghostbusters theme which will see them "attack" their X Factor nemesis.
An insider told the Daily Mail: "Brian is working out if it is possible for Cowell to appear as a ghostly figure on stage, or whether someone can float onto the stage with a Cowell face mask on.
"The boys, dressed as Ghostbusters, will then exterminate the figure using lasers. The audience would love it and it might even bring a smile to the real Simon Cowell."
