STV is going to screen a brand new series of popular detective show Taggart in 2010, it has been confirmed.
The show had been put under threat after ITV said it might not show it throughout the UK.
But despite this, STV has confirmed that it will definitely be making a new series of the cop show to air next year – delighting fans all over.
A spokesperson for STV said: "In the event that ITV do not re-commission Taggart, we can confirm that STV will make Taggart for delivery in 2010.
"STV recognises the widespread popularity of the programme. This will ensure that this popular brand continues."
Taggart stars big names including John Michie as DI Robbie Ross, and Blythe Duff as DS Jackie Reid, and Alex Norton who plays DCI Matt Burke.
The crime drama is the longest-running cop series in Britain. It first aired in 1983 starring Mark McManus in the title role until his death in 1994.
Taggart is popular all over the world and has been translated into a number of different languages to allow fans from all countries to enjoy it.
