Former Corrie star Tina O'Brien has revealed that she has no plans to marry her partner Ryan Thomas. The couple met on the Weatherfield set when the 23-year-old played Sarah-Louis Platt and Ryan was her on-screen husband Jason Grimshaw.

The pair have a daughter, one-year-old Scarlett, and Tina left the soap to become a stay-at-home mum.

O'Brien told Take 5 magazine: "Originally, I would have loved to get married, and before Scarlett it was something we talked about.

"However, now I feel that having a child is such a massive commitment that I don't feel the need to get married."

She added: "Weddings are lovely, but it's a massive day to organise and it's not the sort of stress I want in my life.

"I never dreamed about my wedding dress when I was at school - maybe I'm just not a girly girl."

Asked if they would have a quiet wedding, she replied: "Maybe that would be something to consider. It's something we need to sit down and talk about one day."

Tina is to play the role of one of Anne Lister's lovers in a new period drama covering the life of a woman, born in 1791, who is often called "the first modern lesbian" for her openly lesbian lifestyle.

Lister was a wealthy Yorkshire landowner who wrote a four-million-word diary. Around one-sixth of the diary is encrypted and describes her affairs.

Tina told PA: "It's based on a true story about a woman who wrote all these diaries in code - they decoded them and found out she was a bit of a saucy lesbian and I play one of her love interests."

She added: "I've always wanted to do a period drama, with the costumes and everything."
