X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke has praised Simon Cowell, but said she could not work with him if he did not let her have control over her music. The singer's debut album 'Overcome' reached number one in the charts.
Alexandra has said that the music mogul is a "great guy and a great boss" and "always on the other end of a phone for me."
Burke told the London Evening Standard: "I'm a very strong-minded person, and if they tried to mould me into something I'm not, I'd ask for my deal to be taken away.
"Who wants to be controlled by someone else? It's not Simon who's out there selling the music. We once had a conversation where I made it very plain."
She added: "I said, 'If I don't like something you're saying, you will know about it. I'm not one to beat around the bush, I don't even let my mum and dad tell me what to do'.
"And Simon said, 'Alex, if I am ever wrong, which I never am, I will apologise to you. But if you're wrong, you need to learn to apologise to me'. Which is fair enough, isn't it?"
The singer has admitted that she is worried that her recent success will not last.
She told the Daily Star: "It doesn't feel real, it feels like I'm about to wake up.
"I do worry that things are so perfect it could all go wrong."
