This Halloween zombies will be dragging their undead carcasses along the streets of Glasgow’s West End and want people to “get their zombie on!” and join in.
The Glasgow Zombie Walk takes place on October 31 at 3pm from the QMU and organisers are encouraging people to bring out their inner zombie and be part of the spooky walk.
“Bringing out said zombie involves shambling, crawling, dragging or indeed walking like your average pedestrian through the west end…But, you know, dressed as a zombie,” they explained on their website.
To take part in the walk, it is important to look and act the part. Fortunately, a thorough step-by-step guide has been provided, involving blood, torn clothes and even some tips on how to walk like a zombie.
Step 1: The most important part of being a zombie is getting the face right and to do that cover the face and eyebrows with white/grey makeup, use red and black eyeliner to make the eyes look sunken and hollow, and drip some fake blood over the face and mouth.
Step 2: Messy hair is essential for the undead as head and shoulder are usually eaten. Backcombing the hair will provide you with a dishevelled look and talcum powder or flour will add the finishing touch. Use hairspray to keep your zombie hairdo intact.
Step 3: Zombie’s are highly fashion conscious and torn old clothes splattered with blood are the latest craze. So look out your unused clothes and get tearing. To add dirt stains use soil or coffee granules and finish the look with fake blood.
Step 4: Speaking of fake blood, this can be bought from any fancy dress shop, but you can also make it yourself. Take a small bowl of flour and add some red food dye. Mix with some coffee granules to give it some lumps and add water.
Step 5: Every zombie takes pride in their signature walk. It is imperative to groan and walk correctly. Practice before you go out in order to achieve that perfect performance.
