The Ministry of Defence has declined Katie Price's offer to visit troops in Afghanistan, according to reports. The glamour model wanted to fly to the Helmand Province before the Christmas holidays.
The top brass turned Katie down amid concerns that she would use the trip as a "shameless publicity stunt to help flog her merchandise".
A source told the Daily Star: "Her bid was considered like all the others the MOD gets from celebrities.
"But they weren't happy about this one. They looked at her lifestyle and felt her current image was not something they wanted to be involved with."
They added: "She never really stood a chance. Let's just say it was all thought to be a bit too tacky."
The reality star had been told by officials that flights to the region are limited at the moment.
A millitary source told The People: "Soldiers serve six-month tours and early in the new year will be right in the middle of one.
"Flights to and from Afghanistan are under enormous pressure but more transport becomes available in the middle of the tour, so she can be ferried about with ease."
Price previously visited troops in Bosnia and Kosovo during the Balkans war.
