Simon Cowell was involved in a "screaming match" with his X Factor protege Jamie "Afro" Archer, a report has claimed. The 34-year-old singer was said to be "shell-shocked" after coming to blows with the entertainment mogul in a row during rehearsals for this week's Big Band themed show.
Sources told The Sun that production staff were shocked to hear Simon tell Jamie to ditch his choice of song during the dress rehearsals.
Cowell was reportedly unhappy with Archer's performance of the Elvis hit `If I Can Dream'.
He told Jamie: "That was well below par. You are finished if you sing that.
"You need to change your song and start learning the lyrics fast or you are not just going to let yourself down - but you'll let me down too."
The pair then rowed as Cowell insisted that the contestant should sing the U2 hit `Angel Of Harlem'.
Archer apparently told the mogul that he "didn't know the words" of the song and they continued their angry spat in Simon's dressing room.
Jamie told sources that he felt as if Cowell was "wrecking" his chances of winning the contest.
An insider told the newspaper: "They eventually calmed down but it got very heated - Jamie is absolutely shell-shocked by it all.
"We honestly thought he was just going to pack up his things and leave the show."
