X Factor 2008 contestant Diana Vickers received a standing ovation for her West End stage debut in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice. The singer plays the shy but talented Little Voice who can sing like some the world's most memorable stars in the show.
The cast were cheered by the audience and Diana did a celebratory leap on stage.
The 18-year-old told the Daily Mirror before her performance: "Obviously, it's quite hard playing a shy person when I'm not.
"It's quite hard to express yourself through facial expressions when I use my hands a lot, I talk a lot.
"But when I get up on that stage in my silver frock and I'm doing all these diva things it's just amazing.
"I'm not Vickers, I'm just all these different people."
Take That band member Mark Owen has written a song "Sunlight" for the finale of the show.
The tune was co-written by Jamie Norton and Ben Mark, and Vickers has described it as "beautiful".
Playwright Jim Cartwright told the Daily Mirror: "It had always been my intention to write an original song for the end of my play, when Little Voice finally sings in her own voice.
"However, when we first premiered it at the National Theatre in 1992 we ran out of time and a Judy Garland song was used."
He added: "When I first heard Sunlight with Diana Vickers singing it, tears came to my eyes. I was just thrilled. It was exactly what I wanted."
