As if things weren’t weird enough on October 31, now The Mighty Boosh are apparently planning a sack race down Glasgow’s Buchanan Street on Halloween.
According to a Facebook page from publisher Canongate Books, The Mighty Boosh will publicise their latest tome The Pocket Book of Boosh with “a pocket-themed sack race for fans down Glasgow’s Buchanan Street”.
The bizarre competition will mark a day of surreal events in the city to mark Halloween, including a Glasgow Zombie walk, which also has a Facebook page and involves a horde of costumed "undead" walking from Byres Road in the West End to the Royal Concert Hall at the centre of the city - or more likely staggering slowly while looking for brains...
Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt, aka Vince Noir and Howard Moon, are reported to be signing copies of the Pocket Book from 2pm at Borders on Buchanan Street, with tickets for the signing free, but strictly limited.
They will be available from 8.30am on October 31, according to the page, and will be available only from the shop on the day of the event, and restricted to one per person.
The page continues: “The first ten fans to receive tickets for the signing will also be given an oversized denim ‘pocket’ each, created specially for the event by Nudie Jeans.
“A race will then take place down Buchanan Street at 1pm, with the winner receiving a private Q&A session with Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt before the signing. As the signing is taking place on Halloween, prizes will also be awarded for best Boosh costumes.”
As opposed to the more exclusive nature of The Mighty Boosh event, the Glasgow Zombie walk is open to all as "a quick(ish) walk/crawl to start yer Halloween festivities".
