X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has reportedly blasted claims that she is planning to mime on the results show this weekend. The Geordie lass is scheduled to perform her debut solo single 'Fight For This Love'.

She has confirmed that she will pre-record her performance with a live vocal taped earlier in the day in front of an audience of 800 people.

Cheryl told the Evening Standard: "I really don't see the problem. I will be singing live.

"I just won't have time to get changed and get prepared for the performance, and be a judge on the show. It would be too hectic."

She has confessed to feeling "absolutely terrified" about the prospect of singing by herself.

The 26-year-old said: "I love performing but I've sat for weeks judging people and now I'm putting myself out there to be judged."

A source told the Daily Mail that the decision to pre-record Cheryl's vocals was made following Girls Aloud's disastrous performance on the X Factor last October.

The girl band sand 'The Promise' but struggled to stay in tune.

The insider said: "The girls did not have a huge amount of time to rehearse, and while they looked beautiful in 1950s-style gold gowns, their vocals were terrible'

"We even had to have a sound engineer in the director's gallery backstage standing over the controls trying to make them sound better, but to no avail."

They added: "Cheryl is the break-out star of Girls Aloud and there are big plans for her.

"Nobody - neither on 'The X Factor' nor her record label Polydor - wants to see her fail, which is why we thought it was better for Cheryl to mime her performance.

"But, of course, Cheryl will be heavily criticised for not singing live and then returning to her judge's chair to cast judgement on the hopefuls, who will have spent all week rehearsing and battling nerves."

All professionals who take part in the X Factor should sing live, end of, what kind of poor example will it be for the contestants.
