Cheryl Cole has reportedly been arguing with husband Ashley over her close relationship with Simon Cowell.
A source allegedly told Showbiz Spy that Ashley was "jealous" of the time that his wife has been spending working on The X Factor.
The insider is reported as saying: "When the papers were writing about how well they got on during last year's show, Ashley saw the funny side and thought it was sweet Cheryl was in awe of Simon.
"Now the series is back and they're working together again, he is growing irritated again, he is growing irritated by what he sees as her over-reliance on him.
"He likes Simon and can see why people value what he thinks about the music business and TV, but it is grating on him that Cheryl won't do anything without seeking Simon's opinion first."
A recent report claimed that Cheryl is planning to move her mother into the marital home.
The singer wants to convert an outbuilding in the grounds of the couple's Surrey house into a home for her mother, Joan Callaghan.
Ashley is believed to be less than happy with the news that his mother-in-law is moving in according to the Daily Mail.
A source said: "Cheryl and Joan are so close they are like sisters, and Cheryl can't wait to have her around.
"She has always relied heavily on her mum for emotional support and when Ashley was accused of cheating it was Joan who Cheryl turned to."
They added: "Ashley is not thrilled but he hasn't got much of a say in it.
"He would like to have Cheryl to himself a bit more and he feels awkward under the watchful eye of his mother-in-law."
