X Factor host Dermot O'Leary has revealed that Simon Cowell has hatched a plan that would see Susan Boyle take a guest slot on the show.
Dermot told The Sun that X Factor executives want the 48-year-old to coach the over 25s in the finals and perform on the talent show.
Dermot said: "Who she's going to duet with - that's the fun part.
"She was brilliant. I think finishing second in Britain's Got Talent was probably the best thing that could have happened to her."
Dermot said that he believed that Susan would help to "inspire" the older contestants on this year's show.
He said: "I think we all need to be ashamed of ourselves in the sense that as a public we all did look at her and go, 'She's not good looking, she can't possibly have a good voice'. I'm glad that she did so well."
O'Leary also admitted that Susan's highly publicised breakdown was inevitable given the "extraordinary pressure" that she was under in the live finals of Britain's Got Talent.
He said: "I think probably the nerves did get a bit too much for her and she reacted in probably the most rational way - which is the same way I'd react if I was her."
