Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly is said to be have been in "floods of tears" after it was revealed that she has split from her long-term boyfriend, says a report.
Insiders told the Daily Mirror that Katherine decided to end her five-year relationship with the actor Oliver Williams after spending months trying to prevent the split.
Sources close to the couple claimed that the pressures of work led to "floods of tears and emotional break-up".
The 29-year-old recently won Best Actress at this year's British Soap Awards for her portrayal of Becky Granger.
Oliver, who works with the Royal Shakespeare Company, had moved from London to be with Katherine in Manchester while she worked on Coronation Street.
But the young actor struggled to find work in the UK, opting to take a film role in Hong Kong.
A Corrie source said: "They were spending too much time apart and it took its toll. But they both tried very hard to save their relationship.
"It was hard. There were plenty of tears as the weeks went by.
"Oliver recently got his Green Card so he can work in America and, coupled with his work in the Far East, they both decided that it was going to be too big a distance.
"They decided to go their separate ways and focus on their careers."
