Regular Joe: X Factor's McElderry was kind to sneaky fans.
X Factor winner Joe McElderry was shocked to find two fans hiding in the boot of his car last week. The singer had just come off stage in Aberdeen.
The girls – who claim they love Geordie Joe – thought they could get a bit closer to their hero.
They had been in the crowd at the sell-out X Factor gig at the city’s ECC.
A tour insider told the Mirror: “The girls were desperate for a photo and a hug from Joe. They hung around backstage then decided it was time for desperate measures.
“They found the 4x4 chauffeur-driven car Joe's been allocated for the tour, and after distracting the driver they hid in the back - for three hours.
“Joe had a few drinks with the tour crew before getting into the car. Fifteen minutes into the journey, he heard this sniggering.
“He looked behind him and saw these girls. He was stunned - not to mention a little freaked out.”
But gentleman Joe didn’t just chuck the stowaways out, he took them back to his hotel, signed an autograph and made sure they got home safely.
