Dermot O'Leary may be out of the running to present the planned US version of The X Factor, a report has claimed. Simon Cowell has revealed that he has offered Cheryl Cole a permanent position on the judging panel of the show.
Sources have also claimed that Irish music mogul Louis Walsh is also set to take a post on the panel of the 2011 show, but Cowell is said to be having doubts about O'Leary.
Simon told a Sunday newspaper that he is concerned that too many Brits "may be a turn-off" for American viewers.
It had been reported that Dermot was hoping to sign a six-figure deal to host the American version of the hit TV talent show.
He flew out to Los Angeles to meet with executives from the Fox network to discuss the lucrative deal.
Cowell is said to have given Cheryl his assurances that she will sit beside him on the judging panel of the US X Factor.
A source said: "Simon loves that Cheryl isn't afraid to stand up to him on the show. He knows their banter will be a massive hit with American audiences."
