The date of the X Factor final may be shifted in 2010 to avoid a battle for the Christmas number one, according to reports. Show producers are apparently considering an earlier final to allow the winner's song a chance to reach the top of the charts.
X Factor winner Joe McElderry was beaten into second place in the festive charts by Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name'.
The single was the subject of a Facebook campaign to stop the X Factor winner getting to the top spot.
A source told The Sun: "If a show that gets 19 million viewers can't muster enough support to beat an online campaign of music snobs, then maybe there is no point aiming for a Christmas number one next year."
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell is reportedly determined to make next year's X Factor "bigger and better" and is eager to recruit Robbie Williams as a fifth judge.
The former Take That star has confirmed that he has "postponed" a tour to allow him to participate in the talent show.
Williams told GMTV that there was some truth in the rumours that Simon Cowell had asked him to join him, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh on the panel of the show.
He said: "I'd like to confirm that's a goer."
