'X Factor' finalist Joe McElderry has never had a singing lesson.

The 18-year-old Geordie - who is favourite to win the ITV talent show - has won over the nation with his powerful voice and his mum Eileen says it's all down to his innate talent.

She said: "I'm dead proud of him. He has never had a singing lesson and his voice is totally natural. I knew he could do it.

"The support for him has been fantastic. I'm really proud people have got behind us."

Eileen added her son inherited his talent from his grandma Hilda Joyce, who used to be in a singing group called The Dolly Mixtures.

She said: "It's definitely in the family. Joe's 75-year-old grandma is a brilliant singer as well."

Meanwhile, Joe admits he's "nervous" about his duet with George Michael on Saturday's (12.12.09) show.

He is yet to meet the 'Faith' singer and Joe is worried how he will cope when he finally sees his idol.

He said: "I'm just going to hyperventilate before I go on and put all the nerves into the performance."

Yesterday (10.12.09) show boss Simon Cowell confirmed Joe will sing with George on the show, while fellow finalist Olly Murs will duet with Robbie Williams, while third finalist Stacey Soloman will perfrom alongside Canadian crooner Michael Buble.
