X Factor fans have claimed that Simon Cowell's decision to take the result of the elimination battle between Lucie Jones and John and Edward Grimes to the public vote was part of a conspiracy plot, says a report.
Sources told a tabloid newspaper that Cowell had "consulted" with X Factor executive producer Richard Holloway before making the controversial decision.
Cowell and Holloway were spotted having a serious "discussion" during the advert break before the sing-off between the Welsh lass and the Irish twins.
A source told The Sun: "[Cowell and Holloway] seemed to be discussing what to do.
"Should they get rid of Lucie, who can obviously sing really well, or finally get rid of the twins?"
"The producers always claim that Simon doesn't know how the voting goes before he makes his decision.
"But after the intense conversation with Simon, Holloway was seen whispering in the ears of judges Dannii [Minogue], Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh."
Simon told Holly Willoughby on The Xtra Factor that he had been "surprised" by the result of the public vote.
