It has been officially confirmed that JLS have signed a recording contract with a major record label.

Aston, JB, Marvin and Oritse, signed the contract with Epic - the label which also represents Scouting For Girls, Lemar, and Shakira.

The boyband were close runners-up to Alexandra Burke and nearly became the first group to win the X Factor.

JLS have been widely praised and Louis Walsh, who mentored the band through the talent show, claimed that they were " the best boyband" he had ever seen.

Despite saying that JLS were "brilliant", Simon Cowell declined his option to sign the boyband to his label Syco.

Nick Raphael, managing director of Epic, told the Sun: "JLS are the best boy band to emerge from a TV talent show.

"The band already have an incredible fan base, and I look forward to launching their recording career."

A recent report claimed that the boys have used some of their advance from Epic to buy a plush four bedroom apartment in Princess Park Manor, north London.
