Music mogul Simon Cowell has said that he will make Alexandra Burke a bigger star than Leona Lewis.

The X Factor supremo is said to already be busy working with the top talent in the music industry to find the right material to project Alex to superstardom.

An inside source told the Daily Mail: "He thinks Alexandra will be a big international star, if they get the music right.

"In many ways she is more versatile than Leona  -  she can really dance and there is a greater variety of things that she can do.'"

It has been announced that pre-orders of Alexandra's version of the Leonard Cohen song "Hallelujah" reached more than 500,000 copies before the song was released for download yesterday.

The CD will be availlable from retail outlets from Wednesday and the single is being widely tipped to be the Christmas No 1.

Alexandra will be performing on a special Christmas Day's Top of the Pops and also at the New Year's Eve concert at London's O2 Arena where she will be on the bill alongside Elton John.

A excited Alex also revealed that Beyonce has asked her to perform on stage with her when the US superstar tours the UK in 2009.

Simon Cowell's publicist, Max Clifford, said: "Simon is a master at breaking acts in the UK and the American market.

"Alexandra is only 20 and she has come on leaps and bounds just over the course of the series.

"So imagine what she could do when she gets to work with industry's best producers and writers."

Alex said that she would be happy to have a fraction of the career success that Leona Lewis has enjoyed since winning The X Factor.

She said: "She is just a girl from Hackney and look what she has done. I really want to write and sing my own stuff.

"I hope I have a string of number one albums and I do make it as an international star. Life experience has meant that I am prepared for the highs and the lows."
