Two Door Cinema Club flame-haired frontman, Alex Trimble Pic: Drew Farrel/ STV
It appears I’m not the only one running late, with jerky offbeat rhythms and happy go lucky melodies pulling young trendy types into the already bustling tent, like the Pied Piper of this season’s cool kid, either that or rumour had spread there was an Urban Outfitters sale inside.
Sporting double denim the band light up the stage, exuding passion, energy and enthusiasm, instantly gaining likeability for their sheer disbelief at their own popularity.
They have the entire tent gripped, each track from their debut album, Tourist History, turning into a singsong whether it be the lyrics or the melodic guitar hooks which decorate their tracks.
The band are very much a unit, playing competently and tightly, blending mild electronics with a weave of jagged guitars, funk bass lines and soaring melodies, vocals effortlessly gliding over the underlying complex rhythms. Singing, “This is the life, and who’d argue”, the band clearly believe every word and have every right to, their short, sharp bursts of pop pulling the crowd into shapes and droping them still, poised ready for the next musical outburst.
New single Come Back Home is recognised from it’s humble electronic beginnings, the audience clearly familiar with the album in it’s entirety, leaping in time to the chorus.
With a hectic tour schedule coming up, if this fledgling band can repeat what they did today here at T, a future brighter than their frontman's flame hair awaits them.
