Boom, boom, wow: The Black Eyed Peas partied with the Balado crowd Pic: © Drew Farrell
It was apparent from the moment The Black Eyed Peas set foot on stage they were ready to party and according to front man will.i.am there’s no other place on earth to party like Scotland – a fact the crowd relished.
Mr i.am’s chanting of “I love Scotland, I love Glasgow” appeared through the barrage of old and new hits including Shut-Up, Don’t Lie and Pump It.
It was however will.i.am’s fifteen minute solo DJ set which set the crowd alight, rocking in a metallic mask and sparkling jacket ala Michael Jackson – the party switch was cranked up to full.
Pumping out party beats by the truck load from everything (and I mean everything) to the King of Pop himself to crowd favourites Jump Around, Zombie Nation and impromptu version of Dirty Dancing classic Time of My Life.
A nod to Cheryl Cole came in the form of their duet 3 Words – a fitting salute to his poorly best-friend.
The Peas’ Where is the Love saw the Balado crowd – strangers or not come together for a moment of hugging and embracing.
Armed with a female of dancers, Fergie broke away from her male counterparts to shake her derrière to solo hits Fergalicious (one for the guys) and turned up the love factor with girly sing-along hit Big Girls Don’t Cry. Donning various leather get-ups including one which burst into a silver corset ( not quite Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction), it kept the men in the crowd raring to go.
Closing the show with massive number one hit I Gotta Feeling, the Peas wanted to make sure the energy never died and it was safe to say that Friday night was a good, good night.
Finishing their set close to midnight the front man would have had to make a sharp exit to make it back to his favourite Scottish city to play at the Arches – he be rocking them beats, don’t you know.
