California rock band Carolina Liar had only one complaint to make about this year’s T in the Park: they didn’t get to see much of it.

The band are based in Los Angeles but, with the exception of singer Chad Wolf, hail from Sweden. Following their major label debut Coming to Terms being released to positive reviews last year, their songs have been used on the soundtracks of some of the US’ biggest shows including Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and Greek. The band even made an guest appearance on 90210 in April.

Having begun to establish themselves in the USA, Carolina Liar seem to be targeting Europe this summer and their busy schedule meant their T in the Park debut was more of a flying visit than a wild weekend.

The band played the King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent on Sunday lunchtime and they joked that their early slot was a result of their wild reputation.

“We’re all raging alcoholics so they didn’t want to put us up too late” deadpanned guitarist Rickard.

Singer Chad Wolf was amused by the difficulty the band had in getting to the festival. “The fun thing was just trying to find our way into the park. There were a lot of signs but just not the ones we were looking for,” he laughed: “There was a P in the Dark festival somewhere on one of these back roads.”

The band expressed their regret at not having time to see other bands, with Mogwai, Kings of Leon, Pet Shop Boys and Glasvegas their top picks. Alas, a tight schedule meant that two festivals in two days and more UK gigs to come left them no time to relax.

Having rocked the Tut’s tent it seemed going back to smaller venues might take a bit of adjustment.

Chad explained: “It’s going to be interesting to take the volume back, because these shows we have been playing in the last couple of days have been so loud and now we have to play quiet again and tame.” As the band laughed he acknowledged: “Tame is not something anybody has described us as, I don’t believe. Respectful, yes, tame, I don’t think so.”
