Scouting for Girls are simply So Lovely at T in the Park Scouting for Girls may be a lot more pop than many of the more ‘serious’ acts playing at T in the Park 2010, but judging by the crowds who braved the rain to catch their main stage  set, catchy tunes are clearly the way to a multitude of Scots hearts.

After coming off stage, the lads allowed stv.tv reporter Laura Boyd to snuggle up on their sofa and chat about festivals and what life is like being in one of Britain’s most successful, current batch of pop bands.

Roy Stride, Greg Churchhouse and Peter Ellard spoke about the magic of T and said: “We played here a few years ago but this was much bigger and better.

“It’s the biggest festival crowd we’ve played too in a long time.”

Speaking of the torrential weather they added: “It was a sea of ponchos!”

As the crowd bopped along to hits like She’s So Lovely, Elvis Ain’t Dead and This Ain’t a Love Song, it was clear that catchy melodies make for the perfect festival hit.

The guys said: “We’re really lucky. We’ve had loads of radio support with our songs.

“It goes down so well at a festivals. It’s just really good fun.

“We just try and make music that we like. We love pop music and we try and make music that we would like to see at a festival and have fun too.”

Scouting for Girls may be riding high on a wave of success but they’re not taking anything for granted.

They said: “Every time we get to play we just try and take it all in.”

SFG’s hard work has however paid off and they are now finding success around the world.

They told us: “We’ve got a single out on Monday and unlike the first album, this album’s doing really well around the world – we’re living this amazing dream.”

So having kicked off Saturday’s T in style, who were the lads looking forward to seeing?

They revealed: “We’re off to see Shed Seven. Shed Seven was a band we were into when we first started to get into music so we’re going to see that and Paolo Nutini – he’s an incredible artist and I think it’s going to be really beautiful.”
