The Script don't think they'll win a BRIT

Danny O'Donoghue is thrilled to be nominated for a BRIT award but doesn't expect to win.

The Irish star's band The Script is up for International Group at the prestigious ceremony and will battle it out with The Killers, The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes and Fun for the honour.

However, Danny thinks one of his rivals will walk away from the ceremony with the statuette because The Script have historically never done well at awards shows.

Speaking at the BRIT Awards 2013 nominations launch at The Savoy Hotel in London last night (10.01.13), he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''We are not the type of band that wins, we've never been. I know I can't win the category.

''I've said, we've been going for four years without getting recognised, but you know, it's never stopped us and it's never taken us down a peg.''

Despite not being confident of victory, Danny is delighted he and his bandmates - Mark Sheehan and Glen Joseph Power - are in the running but insists he doesn't measure his group's success by industry recognition.

He added: ''We haven't won any awards and it doesn't bother us but being nominated but getting a pat on the back from the industry is great. It's a nice thing to be recognised by the BRITs but it's a tough category and stiff competition we are up against.

''We don't crave recognition at all, we've never craved recognition, but you know it's nice to get a nod from the industry.''

Other nominees include Emeli Sande, who leads with four nominations, Mumford & Sons and Alt-J have three each and Rita Ora, Muse, Plan B, Jessie Ware, Ben Howard, Coldplay, Paloma Faith and Olly Murs are all up for two awards.

The winners will be announced at the ceremony - which is being hosted by James Corden at The O2 arena in London - on February 20.
