Move over Harry Styles: last night Zayn Malik stole the show when One Direction performed at the Olympics closing ceremony, with fashionistas loving the heartthrob’s funky blonde quiff and cute black hat.

But Zayn’s hot new look wasn’t just down to a team of stylists and the 1D lads’ beloved hairdresser Lou Teasdale. Zayn’s girlfriend Perrie Edwards actually helped put the finishing touches to his look, presenting him with her favourite hat as a good luck charm.

According to, Zayn was extremely nervous ahead of performing What Makes You Beautiful at last night’s music spectacular and he turned to Perrie to help overcome his nerves. We’re not surprised he had butterflies – the stunning ceremony was estimated to have been watched by around 300 million people around the globe.

Little Mix lovely Perrie told Zayn to wear her lucky hat and assured him that all would be fine and thankfully, it seemed to do the trick as One Direction delighted fans with a fun filled rendition of their hit.

After the performance, Zayn is said to have celebrated with Perrie, with the glamorous coupled spotted cuddling up and singing along to the rest of the show.

Zayn and Perrie have grown extremely close since going public on their relationship earlier this year.

It looks like they could be about to take their romance to the next level, with a source telling Heat magazine: “They have been inseparable. They had a long time apart while Zayn toured the States, so they're really happy to be together again.

"Zayn has been staying at Perrie's place in Notting Hill most of the time. He's rarely ever at his own flat and they want to make their joint living situation more official."

Meanwhile, Harry and Niall Horan also had a ball at the Games, with Harry Tweeting that it was “siiiiiiiick” and Niall saying: “Words can't describe how it felt tonight! Best feeling ever!”

The ecstatic 18-year-old then added: “Omg that was unbelievable, highlight of out career, and the biggest audience we will ever play to 1 billion people! #ThankYouLondon2012 [sic]”
