Kristen Stewart 'too ashamed' to attend London premiere

Kristen Stewart has reportedly backed out of attending the London premiere of her new film On the Road on August 16.

It follows revelations about her alleged fling with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders and subsequent ‘split’ from boyfriend and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.

While Kristen is said to be desperately trying to win Rob back, it seems she is not yet ready to brave a return to the spotlight.

A source told RadarOnline: "Kristen won't be doing the red carpet for On The Road — she's too ashamed to show her face in public right now.

"After everything that has been said, and in light of the revelations that she cheated on Robert with director Rupert Sanders, she's running scared at the moment."

Kristen is also believed to be avoiding co-star Tom Sturridge – who also happens to be Rob’s best friend. Awkward, to say the least.

The insider said: "There's also the dilemma of standing next to her co-star in the movie, Tom Sturridge.

"He's very close to Rob and Kristen thinks it would be awkward for her to promote the movie on the red carpet alongside him.

"Kristen is very proud of her work for On The Road, she grew up reading Kerouac novels and this is a production she always wanted to star in."

They added: "If she appears at the London premiere, it will detract people from the movie itself and Kristen doesn't want that at all.”

Just a few months ago, Rob, Kristen and Tom appeared to be having the time of their lives in Cannes, when Rob joined his friend and girlfriend for the world premiere of On the Road.

As Kristen laughed and joked with Tom, R-Pattz looked on, happy that two of his most treasured people in the world had bonded. How quickly things can change…

While Kristen may not be ready to return to work, Rob is dusting himself down and getting back to business, with his first live TV interview since the scandal, scheduled for US show Good Morning America on August 15. That’s certainly going to be a gripping watch.
