Amelia Lily was dubbed the ‘comeback kid’ of X Factor 2011 after enduring a rollercoaster journey on the series.
Despite Kelly Rowland sending her packing on the first live show, only to be voted back in when Frankie Cocozza was a naughty boy, Amelia Lily went on to wow the crowds and come third in the competition.
Now, a year on, the stunning singer is about to release her debut single, You Bring Me Joy, and trust us, you are guaranteed to be singing this infectious summer hit all day long.
We caught up with Amelia as she kicked off her promotional tour in Scotland and she told us about the past year and her joy at landing a record deal.
The 17-year-old said: "Never in a million years did I picture myself being here now. I didn’t even think I’d get past the first audition….
“I feel like I’ve come such a long way in such a short space of time. I’m loving every minute of it and I never want it to stop.”
And it’s no wonder Amelia is having such a ball – she is signed to Xenomania and has been writing and recording her debut pop album with Brian Higgins – the man who has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including the Sugababes and Girls Aloud.
With You Bring Me Joy due for release on September 2, can we expect to see the gorgeous girl unleash her inner rock chick on the X Factor Live shows this year?
She said: “I’d love to be able to perform back on The X Factor – I’m praying I get the chance to as that would just make the year for me.”
Amelia Lily may be all about the music but we couldn’t resist asking her about those romance rumours that hit the headlines during her time on the show. Did she snog Frankie Cocozza? Which member of One Direction is her favourite?
And of course, we wanted to find out what she really thinks about Kelly Rowland, after she axed her in the X Factor twist... Stay tuned to stv.tv/entertainment next week as Amelia Lily dishes the dirt on this juicy goss.
