Royals Kate Middleton and Prince William could live the glitziest life imaginable, attending the best parties, indulging in the most expensive pastimes, and jetting off to far-flung exotic locations every week.
But it seems the Royal couple prefer a much more low-key way of life, if a recent report on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is to be believed.
According to some of those closest to the couple, who are quoted in the September issue of Vanity Fair, Kate and Wills favour home life, shunning lavish parties for nights on the sofa.
The Royal pair are said to love nothing more than cuddling up at their rented cottage in Anglesey to watch their favourite DVDs, with The Killing top of their list at the moment.
The Royals apparently also own a sausage maker – perfect for those breakfasts-in-bed the couple are said to love so much. Wills in particular was said to be delighted when Duchess Kate treated him to the treat on the morning of his 30th birthday. Lucky boy!
Far from the life most of us imagine a Royal would live, the down-to-earth couple apparently spend an average day chilling out “making tea and toast”.
And Kate has plenty of jam to spread on that toast, with the insider revealing she's always putting away homemade jars of strawberry and plum preserve to give out to family and friends as gifts. It’s not known if the Duchess makes the jams herself – but with her well-reported skills in the kitchen, we’re pretty sure she could if she wanted to!
And when she’s not attending charity events or State dinners, Kate loves indulging in her secret passion; interior design.
While the couple are living largely in North Wales at the moment, they are expected to move to London full time in 2013, where they will move into a newly refurbished apartment in Kensington Palace.
The luxurious 20-room pad, previously inhabited by Princess Margaret, is currently being overhauled in time for the couple to move in next year, and Kate is believed to be overseeing the decoration, along with the help of professional designers.
As a history of art graduate, the Duchess has a keen eye and will no doubt inject her sense of style into her and William’s palatial new pad.
And the final thing that completes domestic bliss for the couple is the time they spend with their super cute pooch Lupo. The cocker spaniel is still a pup and the Duke and Duchess love taking him out for three walks throughout the day, with locals in Wales commenting on how cute he looks snapping at the pair's heels as he runs behind them.
