Revelations that Twilight star Kristen Stewart had been caught getting up close and rather too personal with movie director Rupert Sanders shocked us all yesterday – but no doubt anyone more so than Sanders’s poor wife, Liberty Ross.

The stunning British model and actress starred alongside K-Stew in recent blockbuster Snow White and the Huntsman, playing her mother in the movie no less.

Adding salt to the wound, just weeks ago Liberty, 32, gushed about her admiration for Kristen, 22, saying how much she loved the actress’s work and how she had earmarked her for the part of Snow White in the dramatic remake of the fairytale.

In an interview with Celebuzz published yesterday, but given in May at the film premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman, Liberty said: "[Kristen] was my number one choice. I think there is no better Snow White in my opinion. She is great.

"I mean, I've never watched a Twilight movie, so I don't really know, but I loved her in Sean Penn's film [Into the Wild] just for that moment that she's in it.

“Ever since then - she's got something very transfixing about her. We needed a modern, edgy, cool girl."

Liberty will no doubt be eating her words now, after Kristen and Rupert’s “momentary indiscretion” came to light yesterday.

The striking model is believed to have found out about the fling between her husband and former co-star before it came to public attention, Tweeting a cryptic message thought to be making reference to it.

The star quoted the famous Marilyn Monroe line: “Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together,” before deleting her account.

Then yesterday as news circulated around the globe, notoriously private Kristen is reported to have released an uncharacteristically open and gushy statement to People magazine, which said: “I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected.

“This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry.”

Rupert meanwhile issued his own statement, which said: “I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family.

“My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”

Kristen’s long-term love Robert Pattinson, whom she starred alongside in the Twilight movies and shares a home with, has so far kept tight-lipped about the affair rumours.
