Billy Mitchell carried the Olympic torch through Walford last night (23.07.12) in a live section of 'EastEnders'.
The hapless cleaner - played by Perry Fenwick - was seen running with the iconic flame around Albert Square during an eight-minute live segment of the BBC One soap.
Hundreds of extras and members of the cast cheered Billy on as he jogged through the square in his Olympic tracksuit, as the torch makes its way to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London for Friday's (27.07.12) opening ceremony.
Viewers also saw Billy's granddaughter, Lola Pearce, give birth straight after he handed the flame over the next torchbearer.
Lola (Danielle Harold) had insisted that Billy should be allowed to fulfil his dream of carrying the torch before he was told she was giving birth.
He then manages to get there just in time as Lola gave birth to her little girl on the floor of the chicken shop.
Perry had previously spoken of his nerves about carrying the torch, saying : ''Like Billy, I am also terrified at what might go wrong as I carry the Olympic torch though Albert Square.''
