Katie Holmes to get “virtually nothing” from Tom Cruise divorce

Katie Holmes is said to be in line to receive “peanuts” from her divorce settlement, because of the pre-nuptial agreement she signed before marrying Tom Cruise.

But the star is apparently not bothered that she’ll miss out on a multi-million dollar settlement - she does, after all, rake in “plenty” of her own cash.

A source told TMZ: "She's not about the money. She's not that girl. She loves to work. The insider added: "Money is not that important to her.  She makes plenty on her own."

After it emerged that Katie had filed for divorce on Friday June 29, stories circulated that the Batman Begins and The Kennedys star would secure a settlement worth around $15-$20 million.

But it seems that the pre-nup she signed before marrying Tom in a romantic ceremony in an Italian castle in 2006 has ensured the 33-year-old actress will walk away with a much smaller amount.

It is thought that Katie could have been in line for a much bigger settlement has she stayed in the marriage until the couple’s seventh anniversary – but simply wanted out.

Katie might not be bothered about her divorce settlement, but is said to be determined to receive child support from Tom for their six-year-old daughter Suri.

Neither party has personally commented on the reasons behind they split, but rumours have circulated that Katie was not keen on his ties to the strict scientology religion and how it could affect their daughter.

Both are certainly keeping themselves busy since the news emerged last week that they are to divorce after five-and-a-half years of marriage.

Tom, who turned 50 today, is in Iceland shooting scenes for upcoming movie Oblivion, while Katie  was snapped in public yesterday as she made her way to film scenes for her guest slot on Project Runway: All-Stars. The former Dawson’s Creek star will also start work on Responsible Adults alongside Chace Crawford later this year.
