Diamond Jubilee weather forecast with Sean Batty

As we look ahead to the Diamond Jubilee weekend, where the nation will come together to celebrate the Queen’s 60 year reign, will we be standing waving our flags in the rain?

STV weatherman Sean Batty has provided an extra special Diamond Jubilee weather forecast and while it will be mostly dry for us Scots, it seems the Queen and the Royal Family will have a brolly good time as showers are expected in the South.

On Saturday, while Scotland should be ok, it looks like rain is set to move across Wales, England and Northern Ireland. We’re sure the Queen, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge etc. won’t let it dampen their spirits.

Planning a Big Jubilee Lunch on Sunday? Well if you’re north of the border, your bunting shouldn’t get soggy as Sean says it will be mainly dry, with the temperature around 13-14 degrees Celsius.

Sadly, the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant will cause a splash in more ways than one as rain is expected to sweep across England and Wales.

What about Monday for Gary Barlow’s musical extravaganza Diamond Jubilee Concert? While Scotland will once again be mainly dry, it looks like the Queen better have her festival poncho at the ready as showers are expected in England.

As 4000 beacons are then list across the country, the pattern remains – dry in Scotland, patchy rain elsewhere.

Us Scots haven’t got away scot free though as Tuesday will see the rain swing into Scotland.

When the Queen and Royal Family take to the Buckingham Palace balcony for the RAF flypast, they will keep everything crossed that they avoid the showers and can enjoy the fairly pleasant temperature as the celebrations come to a close.
