Cage fighter Alex Reid has unveiled his debut single, Stardust, today on his official website.

The bit-part actor and now-singer posted the link to his first single, a collaboration with Shelter, on which Alex provides vocals.

The song, which is “inspired by Alex’s love for Chantelle”, includes lyrics such as:“When I look at you it feels just like the stars at night/I am sunblind you shine so bright/ All I see is all I need/ You’re everything I want to believe/ Oooh/ When I look at you, it feels like stardust.”

Other lines include the lyrics: “So near, so far, we are all stars”.

Stardust, released by Ministry of Pop, is available to pre-order from June 1. Listen to the song on YouTube.

So far the single has received mixed reviews, with some loving the dance tune and others clearly not.

One user on YouTube wrote: “OMG, I LOVE It. Wasn't Expecting It To Sound Like This!!!!! Gonna Be HUGE This Summer In The Clubs :) [sic]."

Another said: “What a crock of s***, sorry Alex but go back to fighting.”

Alex will no doubt be excited to see if his music career takes off, but the hype has been overshadowed slightly by rumours that all is not well in his relationship with pregnant fiancée Chantelle Houghton.

At the weekend a Sunday tabloid reported that Chantelle left the home she shares with Alex after a “catastrophic” row.

On Sunday Alex vehemently denied this on his website, posting a statement with the header “Alex and Chantelle – happy and together!” – which said: “Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton are still very much together and very much in love.   Reports in the papers that they have split are untrue .

“Alex and Chantelle are looking forward to the birth of their little girl in June.”

However Chantelle has followed this up with a statement in her column for this week’s new! magazine, which confirms the couple are living separately at the moment.

She wrote: "You might have read reports saying that I am sleeping at my flat while Alex has been at our house.

"This is true and I have very good reason for that but I don’t want to go into any more detail because it’s extremely raw right now.

"It’s been a really upsetting and difficult week for me and not the best thing to have to go through when I’m so close to having the baby."
