Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch has been voted the World’s Sexiest Man in a recent The Sun newspaper poll.
The British star beat off stiff competition from second placed David Beckham to secure the coveted top spot, while The Only Way is Essex star Joey Essex came third.
The One Direction boys did very well in the poll, with Harry Styles and Zayn Malik coming in fourth and fifth, Niall Horan sixth, Louis Tomlinson eighth and Liam Payne 11th.
Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo came in 16th, while Johnny Depp, Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Robert Pattinson, who regularly top sexiest men polls, made the top 20.
London mayor Boris Johnson was a surprise entry at number 38 and beat Britain’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell and David Walliams, who came in at 75th and 76th.
The newspaper also ran a World’s Sexiest Female poll recently, with actress Mila Kunis beating the likes of Cheryl Cole and Tulisa Contostavlos to the top of the list.
