Acclaimed Scottish designer Marc Ross has been appointed as the new creative director of Rox jewellers.
Marc – who has designed outfits for celebrities including Jessie J and Cheryl Cole, as well as training with boundary-breaking designer Vivienne Westwood – will take responsibility for all creative aspects of the business.
This includes designing a bespoke new uniform for Rox’s 60 staff members, which will show off the flair for fashion that earned Marc a nomination for Scottish Young Designer of the Year at the 2012 Scottish Fashion Awards.
Speaking about his new role, Marc said: “The decision to join ROX ultimately grew from having the pleasure of hosting an event with Design Collective Scotland where we showcased our S/S12 collections in the Thrill Room of the Argyll Arcade store earlier this year.
“After collaborating with ROX and seeing how fashion focused the brand is and how committed they are to supporting Scottish talent, I was very impressed with the brand ethos and a joke about working with the brand all of a sudden seemed like a very good idea.
“In my new role I’ll be heading up the creative team, developing the ROX brand and introducing a creative brief for ROX Silver in addition to designing staff uniforms and implementing seasonal creative plans. It’s a very exciting move and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead.”
Marc will work in his new role for three days a week, spending the rest of his time focusing on Design Collective Scotland, an initiative set up in collaboration with shoe designer Emily Lamb, which helps provide a platform and boost the profile of fashion creatives in Scotland.
Design Collective Scotland (DCS) recently opened the doors to its first retail outlet, 86, which not only promotes Scottish designer labels, but also offers a training academy in the same premises, with designers teaching a range of dressmaking, advanced pattern cutting, knitting, and shoe design/making skills.
