Kate Middleton and Prince William set to be Spelbound at Team Rises gala

Olympic fever is stepping up a gear as summer is just around the corner… now all we need is someone to tell the weather that!

In their role as Olympic ambassadors, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are throwing themselves behind the British athletes hoping for glory at the London games and it has just been announced that they will be guests of honour at an extra special gala entitled Our Greatest Team Rises.

The star-studded event, which takes place at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday May 11, will see Kate and Wills join a host of famous faces to celebrate the UK’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

Joining the royal couple will be Gary Barlow (Kate is a big fan), Will Young and Alfie Boe.

Britain’s Got Talent stars Spelbound will perform a breathtaking routine and they have been Tweeting about their excitement at showcasing their talents for the Duke and Duchess.

The gymnasts wrote: “Just seen that Prince William and Kate will be attending the 'Team Rises' event we are appearing at at the Royal Albert Hall Friday week! How exciting!!!!!”

According to The Mirror, Kate and William will also meet Olympic gold medal winners and Team GB ambassadors Sir Steve Redgrave, Dame Kelly Holmes and Denise Lewis.

Mel C, Sporty Spice, will be amongst the stars at the event, which is being hosted by Davina McCall and John Bishop.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with Prince Harry, are looking forward to being involved in numerous Olympic events in the coming months.

In December 2011, they became official ambassadors for the London Olympics, and Prince William gave a message of support for the Team GB Ambition Programme, saying: "Catherine, Harry and I are honoured to be ambassadors for Team GB and Paralympics GB.
"We are hugely looking forward to this incredible sporting competition, but are also looking beyond next summer's Games to the springboard it will provide for future success.”

Kate has already been showing her support for British athletes, last month visiting the Riverside Arena at Olympic Park to meet the Team GB women's hockey squad.

Once a skilled hockey player herself, captaining the team at Marlborough College, the sporty Duchess ditched her heels and got stuck into a game, cheering as she scored a goal.

Kate, William and Harry will watch as the Olympic Torch is carried through the grounds of Buckingham Palace on July 26.
