'Doctor Who' star Matt Smith is to recite poetry on a new Disney TV show.
The 29-year-old actor has agreed to narrate a story on Disney Junior programme 'A Poem Is', which is designed to encourage youngsters to read more and introduce them to the joys of literature.
Matt will read Jack Prelutsky's 'Once They All Believed In Dragons' and he is thrilled to have been asked to be on the series.
He said: ''I've always had an enthusiasm for poetry and creative writing, having studied it at university, and as an actor it is so vital to my art to have an understanding and appreciation for classic literature.''
Other famous names who will appear on the show include
'Britain's Got Talent' judge David Walliams - who is a published children's author - actor Richard Briers and 'Downton Abbey' star Michelle Dockery.
The books will also be brought to life on screen with classic Disney animations.
Matt added: ''The series offers a whole new generation of young minds a way of learning and sharing poetry, and the fact that it's set to some of the most iconic Disney animations just makes the whole experience so enjoyable.''
Matt is currently filming Series 7 of 'Doctor Who' in which his co-stars Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill - who play companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams - are leaving to be replaced by Jenna-Louise Coleman.
