Jessica Simpson has finally given birth to a bouncing baby girl whom she and fiancé Eric Johnson have named Maxwell Drew Johnson.
The star delivered her first child in Los Angeles, with the baby weighing in at a very health 9lbs 13oz.
She confirmed the happy news today (May 1) on her official website www.jessicasimpson.com writing: “Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl Maxwell Drew Johnson.
“We are so grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!”
Little Maxwell is thought to have been around a week late, with Jessica’s due date reportedly listed as April 21. We’re sure Jess was pretty relieved to finally welcome her bundle of joy into the world!
The singer has looked ready to pop for several weeks now, with Jess spotted sporting a sizeable bump. She even admitted to press that she’d been forced to give up her beloved heels, as the baby weight took its toll on her petite frame.
Ever since confirming her pregnancy in Halloween – hilariously dressing up as a mummy before posting a picture on her website that read “it’s true – I’m going to be a mummy!” – Jess has been regularly snapped out and about with her growing bump.
In March, Jessica’s friends and family gathered to lavish gifts on her at the star’s baby shower, including mother-of-two Jessica Alba, and Jess’s sister, singer Ashlee, who is mum to son Bronx, three.
And she was last seen enjoying a day out on Sunday with fiancé Eric, before she went into labour.
Jess made her name as a singer before appearing on the reality show Newlyweds alongside first husband Nick Lachey, and starring in a remake of The Dukes of Hazzard.
