Kate Middleton is thriving in her role as a royal and she once again impressed when she visited De Montfort University with the Queen last week.
After enjoying a fashion show and dance performance, the Duchess of Cambridge delighted students by chatting to them about their studies.
Lucky lingerie design student Polly Shelton was left speechless when style queen Kate said she admired her ‘look.’
The 21-year-old told new! magazine: “I told Kate she looked gorgeous and she said ‘I like your lipstick.’
“I can’t believe it!”
Kate also judged a competition which challenged students to design a pair of shoes for her.
The winner was 20-year-old Becka Hunt, who said the Duchess made her feel completely at ease when she was speaking to her.
She told the magazine: “I thought I would be really nervous, but she makes you feel really calm. She’s really friendly and down to earth.”
Kate is keeping busy while husband Prince William is away on RAF deployment in the Falkland Islands.
Although he is due home at the end of the month, she recently said she is “missing him terribly” and can’t wait for his return.
According to reports today, Kate has teamed up with Prince Charles to give Prince William an extra special 30th birthday gift – a painting of herself.
The art loving duchess, who studied history of art at St Andrew’s University, is believed to have been spending the last few weeks posing for the painting, which she will present to William for his milestone birthday.
Prince Charles is said to have commissioned the artist Nicky Philipps to capture Kate in the portrait, according to the Telegraph.
