Frank Carson has taken his final bow surrounded by his loving family. The Irish comedian has died of cancer at the age of 85.
Famous for his “it’s a cracker” catchphrase, Carson has charmed audiences for decades.
He had been suffering from stomach cancer for some time.
In a statement his family said: “We will be taking him home to Belfast to lay him to rest and celebrate his joyful life. It's quieter down here now. God help them up there!"
Carson hardly ever took time off in his 50-year career, only weeks ago saying he was planning to tour again.
He was on stage in Scotland last year and found time to visit the STV studio beforehand.
Sir Bruce Forsyth led the tributes saying: “The only trouble with Frank was he made me laugh too much. He'll be remembered as the one and only Frank Carson — the man who loved to make people laugh."
Sir Michael Parkinson said: "He was a good man. You're always smiling with people like Frank around."
And his manager Brian Yeates added: "Everyone loved him. His jokes may have been old but it was the way he told them
