As Kate Middleton prepares for a busy day of public appearances in Liverpool tomorrow, one little girl is excitedly getting ready to meet the duchess.

The Duchess of Cambridge will spend Valentine’s Day visiting Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and an Action on Addiction project, while Prince William continues his six week tour of duty in the Falklands.

While everyone is looking forward to meeting and greeting Kate, young Aimee Haswell is simply over the moon that she will get the chance to see a real life fairytale princess.

As reported in the Telegraph, Aimee was diagnosed with a rare type of congenital heart disease when she was just nine days old and her mum, Lisa, explained how the youngster owes her life to the incredible medical team at Alder Hey.

She said: “Aimee is a miracle! We call her "our little star" and when we received the phone call on Tuesday to say she had been nominated to greet the Duchess, words cannot describe our feelings.”

The seven-year-old has since spent the time practicing her royal curtsy and her proud mum said: “She couldn’t wait to get into school and tell everyone the exciting news! Aimee deserves this more than anyone I can think of. She’s a very strong, brave, happy little girl who has been through so much in her short life.”

Tomorrow, Kate will be given a tour of Alder Hey’s burns and oncology units and will also visit Ronald McDonald House, where she is expected to cut the ribbon and open a new apartment.

She will also visit The Brink - an alcohol-free bar linked to Action on Addiction, which she is a patron of.
