RIP Whitney: star found dead on Saturday February 11
Whitney Houston has died aged 48.
The much loved singer's publicist Kristen Foster is quoted by Reuters as confirming the tragic news, saying: “unfortunately it is true.”
No further details have been released but sources told US celebrity website TMZ.com that a member of Whitney's entourage found her in her 4th-floor room at the Beverly Hilton hotel.
Paramedics were called and performed CPR but she was pronounced dead at approx. 3.55pm.
An investigation into the star’s death has begun but Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said that there are "no obvious signs of criminal intent.”
Whitney is said to have battled drug addiction for many years.
She had one child, daughter Bobbi Kristina, with husband Bobby Brown, who she was married to from 1992 – 2007.
Bobby has reportedly been going “in and out of crying fits” since learning of his ex wife’s death.
